About The Event

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) – held on August 31 every year – is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.  Our theme for 2024 is “Together we can”, highlighting the power of our community when we all stand together.

The CDC reports that 31,083 Americans died from a drug overdose in 2023.  386 of those individuals were Idahoans.

All Drug Overdoses Are Preventable.    The CDC reports that "Drug Overdose is a leading cause of preventable death in the United States..."

But there IS hope!  There ARE things that we, as a community, can do to save lives.  The observance of IOAD gives us an opportunity to take time to remember and take time to act!
